Artist Casey Marcelo
Jade Art Studio started the way a lot of good things do: with clay, a wheel, and a lot of patience. I'm Casey Marcelo, and I studied ceramics at the Cleveland Institute of Art, where I fell in love with the whole process of pottery, from the first pull on the wheel to the moment a glaze comes out of the kiln looking nothing like you expected (in the best way).
Today, everything I make comes out of my home studio. There's no big warehouse, no assembly line, just me, my wheel, and whatever glaze combination I'm currently obsessed with. I think that's part of what makes this work feel meaningful.
When you buy a piece from Jade Art Studio, you're not getting something mass produced. You're getting something I made with my own hands, usually with the door open and the outdoors close by.
When I'm not covered in clay, I'm either outside or coaching the CLE Select 18s Volleyball team. I've found that the same discipline and patience it takes to develop players carries right over into the studio. Good things, whether it's a well-thrown bowl or a well-run practice, take time and repetition to get right.
